An ASN is the expected-goods record; a dock appointment reserves a time to unload. On arrival, compare the actual goods with the expected quantities. You can also register an unplanned receipt without a prior ASN.

An ASN is created before the truck leaves the client’s dock, or the client’s own account creates it for you. Either way, receiving is a count against a document that already exists, not a blank form filled in from a driver’s paperwork.

The dock calendar and the ASN read each other. A truck that arrives outside its window is still received — the appointment record just shows why the door was busy when it pulled in, instead of a shrug at the end of the day.

The system reads the aisle before it proposes a spot.
Item, lot, and what is already stacked nearby decide the suggestion — a fast-moving SKU is not proposed for the back of the building, and two lots of the same item are not scattered without reason. The putaway scan confirms the proposal or overrides it, and the location record updates either way, not just the intent.
A location is not a free-text spot typed once and never checked again. It is a hierarchy — warehouse, zone, aisle, bay, level — and every one of those fields is printed on the label a putaway scan confirms against. A picker who scans the wrong aisle is told before the pallet moves, not after a client calls asking where their stock went.
